Converting an online recipe to Markdown

LLMs are very efficient at parsing an actual recipe out of a long website article.

This page gives you a prompt that you can use to quickly convert a recipe into Ponzu-friendly Markdown.

We're big fans of RecipeTinEats at Ponzu HQ.

Then:

  1. Copy the below prompt using the button in the top right of the prompt box.
  2. Paste it into your LLM of choice—we test this prompt with Claude.
  3. The LLM will create an “artifact” with the Markdown in it, you can download this and then edit it in your text editor of choice!
I'd like to convert a recipe to a Markdown artifact.
Please go to the URL: [PASTE_RECIPE_URL] and capture just the ingredients and instructions in a concise form.
I want the Markdown structure to be:
- An h2 titled "Ingredients"
- A bulleted list of each ingredient, you can group the ingredients into several lists with headers if the recipe calls for that
- An h2 titled "Instructions"
- Then the instructions, with each step separated out into its own paragraph
Don't write the recipe title in the Markdown body, it's not needed.
The filename should use sentence case with spaces.
Populate the Markdown frontmatter in the following way:
- title: the name of the recipe
- source: the url of the recipe
- servings: determine this from the recipe contents
- tags: choose 2 or 3 comma-separated tags that represent the recipe; quotes or array brackets aren't required. For example: `tags: gluten free, Italian`
